My Prologue- The Beginning

I was aimlessly traveling when I finally stumble upon a town and an inn. I walk inside.

Laura: “Can I stay at this inn…?”

Innkeeper: “Yes, we have actually have one room available right now. How many nights?”

“A week, please then I’ll be on my way.”

Innkeeper: “Just you?”

“For now… my friend will come later..” I lied. It was just me. I was on what I call a “work trip.” In reality though, I was trying to figure out how to make a living in this life.

Innkeeper: “Alright. Thank you for your payment. Here are your two keys. Enjoy your stay at Southtown in southern Ylisse!”

“Thank you!”

I decided to do a little sightseeing before resting up at the inn.

(Water… lots of water and canals. Is this town a port…?)

And then out of nowhere, I hear screams.

(Huh..?! What?!)

A villager runs passes me, “Brigands!!! RUN!!”

Then, I smell the smoke before I see the village going up in flames.

(What do I do?! WHAT DO I DO?!)

(I have an ax with me… so if it’s life or death… it’ll be the latter for that individual and not me… for now I better hide…)

I run away from the fire and see five people, a blue haired guy, followed by a brown hair guy, a white headed guy and a white headed girl. (They look like they can be twins…) and a smaller blonde girl.

They take out their weapons ready to fight the brigands.

(Hmmmm… if this group can fight… maybe I better try to tag alone then be on my own… though, not sure if I trust a bunch of strangers. I’ll stay close and pick off enemies that I can on my own…)

I follow the group, not too close but not too far. Just enough, to make it through the madness of this whole situation.

(Somehow I survived…)

Laura: “…W-wait!”

They all turned to face me.

Laura: “…Can I join your group until I figure out where I should go…?”

The blonde girl speaks up, “Hold up! You just stroll out of nowhere and want to join us?”

The white hair girl, “Well… we could use all the help we can get against those brigands.”

The white hair guy, “She helped picked a few brigands off, there’s a chance she can help us.”

The brown haired guy says to the blue hair guy, “Are we going to yet let another wolf into our flock?”

Then, he looks at me.

“Are you amnesiac too?” He eyes me suspiciously.

Laura: “I’m not…”

The brown head continues, “What’s your name then?”

“I’m Laura… what’s yours…?”

“I don’t trust you enough to tell you my name. But, my role is to keep Ylisse safe, especially from unknown quantities like yourself.”

The blue hair guy approaches, “Enough Frederick.” He turns to face me. “You want to join the Shepherds? Since you help protect this village, l'd be glad to have you. We need strong hearts and steady hands to defend Ylisse.”

Laura: “I can provide healing and I’m good with an ax. I’m a war cleric after all.” (A beginner not to mention… I’m still figuring out what I want to do, but they don’t need to know that…)

Blue hair guy: “As I’ve told Robin, since you also fought to save Ylissean lives. My heart says that's enough.”

Frederick: “And your mind, milord? Will you not heed its counsel as well?”

The blonde girl chimes in, "Hey, Frederick, ease up a bit, will you? This is a war cleric! Healing and ax skills! But, I'll keep an eye on her too, just to make sure.”

The blue hair guy, “I suppose proper introductions are in order... My name is Chrom.” He points to the blonde girl. “The delicate one here is my little sister, Lissa.”

Lissa:  “I am NOT delicate! ...Hmph! Ignore my brother, please. He can be a bit thick sometimes.”

Chrom: “The wary one here is Frederick.”

Frederick: “Gods forbid one of us keeps an appropriate level of caution.”

Chrom: “And these two, by some fate are named Robin.”

Robin (male): “l'm Robin... at least, that's what I remember now. I woke up in a field with no memories, so I'm still figuring things out. I'm the Shepherds' tactician-well, sort of, since I'm new to this. Stick with us, show us what you've got, and I'll help find a place for you in our strategy.”

Robin (female): “I'm Robin! My past is... well, a bit of a fog, but I'm finding my place as the Shepherds' tactician too. Show us your skills, and let's turn the tide together!"

Laura: “As I said before, I’m Laura. Nice to meet everyone.”

Chrom: “Welcome to the Shepherds, Laura. Let’s fight side by side and bring peace back to our land!"

Laura: “I’ll do what I can to support!” (…In order to survive.)

Laura’s Journal 2- Vaike

“How about Vaike today? He seems harmless? Loud, but harmless.”

Lon’qu: “If that’s what you want.”

Laura: “Remember to have fun!”

He sighs and mutters “Socializing is not fun.”

I see him off with a smile as I leave his place. I head back to my own tent and plop on my bed and out the earpiece on.

It sounds as though Vaike and Lon’qu are sparring.

Lon’qu: “Idiot! You nearly removed my head.”

Laura: “Good thing he’s quick…”

Vaike: “Now, now, don’t get your small clothes in a twist. I was just testin’ ya, is all.”

Vaike: “You can be my squire and pupil, and I’ll see if I can’t make a real warrior outta ya.”

I laugh. “Everyone wants him huh?”

Lon’qu: “I’m going to assume this is just an elaborate joke.”

Lon’qu: “I have no desire to be your pupil, fool!”

Lon’qu: “Such persistence! …Very well. If you have defeat me, I’ll consider it.”

Laura: “But, he gives in anyways. He’s too nice for his own good.”

Lon’qu: “But I have not been sitting idly by. I, too, have grown stronger.”

Laura: “Of course he has. Everyday…”
Vaike: “So how about this? Let’s have you stop train in’ for, say, three days.”

Laura: “Why would he stop training?!”
Vaike: “That’ll give me a chance to catch up and make it a fair fight!”

Laura: “How much weaker are you Vaike??”

Lon’qu: “If strength is the only law, then tell me why I would do such a thing.”

Laura: “He’s got a point.”

Lon’qu: “After your last showing, I thought you’d be finished with duels.”

Laura: “How many times has Lon’qu defeated Vaike now…?”

Lon’qu: “How many times must I defeat you before admit failure?”

Laura: “We almost had the same thought.”

Vaike: “Graaagh! No, no, and no again! It has to be you, and none other!”

I grumble.
Lon’qu: “But we must be equals. I refuse to function as either pupil or squire.”

Laura: “Way too nice…”

Vaike: “Partners, eh? Sounds good to me!”

Laura: “Vaike is the one that said partners!”

Lon’qu: “Then why didn’t you say so sooner? BEFORE we had all those fights?!”

Laura: “But, you probably enjoyed defeating him…”

Lon’qu: “Until the next battle… partner.”

Laura: “Definitely, a softie. A strong, softie.”

I put away the earpiece and pop out of my tent. Lon’qu making his way over. When I reach him halfway, I say, “I also want some sparring time!”

He looks at me. “After all that…?”

“Come on… won’t you indulge me?”

“…Fine.”

“Hehe. And this is why you’re the best!”

Lon’qu: “Flattery… won’t get you anywhere. I won’t go easy on you.”

“I wouldn’t have it any other way!”

We spar until I’m spent. I sit on the ground catching my breath, drinking some water.

Lon’qu’s: “Partners huh?” It sounded like he said something but I’m not entirely too sure.

“Hmmm? Did you say something?”

Lon’qu: “Nothing. Let me know if you’re done or want one more.”

“Has anyone ever told you how nice you are?”

“I-I’m not!” “Besides… not to just anyone.”

“Not yet! Sooner or later, you’re going to be helping everyone!”

Lon’qu: “Sigh… and it’ll be your fault.”

“You say that, but I know how you are. You say no, but you end up doing it anyways.” I smile.

(It’s a part of your many charms.)

Lon’qu: “…Hmph.”

“See, even you can’t deny it!”

Lon’qu: “Enough… get up, one more spar.” “If you can defeat me, I’ll consider.”

(Like I could ever defeat you…)

“Help me up?” I reach out my hands toward him.

He sighs, he considers reaching out with his hands to grab my hands but then at the last moment, thrusts his arm at me instead, the tips of his ears singed red.

“…Hold yourself up.”

I’ll take what I can get and grab his arm to lift myself up off the ground.

(I hope you’ll spoil me more for days to come.)

“Thank you, Lon’qu”

“Don’t thank me when I’ll beat you.”

I laugh. “We’ll see what happens!”
