Laura’s Journal 3- Gregor

I arrive in his tent again. “Today is… Gregor!”

Lon’qu: “Understood.”

“Remember! Enjoy this!!” I give him two thumbs up and pat him on the back for good measure.

Lon’qu: “What’s that for..?”

Laura: “Just cause. Can’t I…?”

Lon’qu: “…Hmph.”

Laura: “Alright, no more from me, off I go!”

I head back to my tent and sit on my bed. “Nothing else to do but listen. Sometimes I wish I can be there…”

I laughed. “Describes him alright.”

My ears perk up.

(How old are Basilio and Gregor?!)

“Huh… that’s news to me.”

“Is he trying to prove something…?”

Imagining that Lon’qu is actually doing what Gregor said makes me laugh.

(This is a first for him.) I ponder…

“Why is he like this.” I can’t help but laugh some more. He seems so different from how he was with Robin or Vaike.

“Gotta pay up!”

“No… because there’s something he wants.”

“Ah… he actually paid him.”

(So adamant. He must really want this match.)

“Lon’qu!!” (I’m seeing such a new side to him…) “But then again, maybe he’s been this way? Just not to me…?”

The way that he ignored Gregor’s comment.

“He doesn’t waste time does he.”

“That fast?!!”

“I can’t believe he lost…”

“Basilio is faster than Lon’qu?! What??”

“Just how much experience does Gregor have…?”

“Not a fool. Not at all…”

“Gregor must really be that much older.” I didn’t think much about it before. (But, it would make sense, why Lon’qu is acting this way.)

“He always wants to get better at swordsmanship and to learn from a veteran is highly advantageous.”

“Oh no.”

“Guess he’ll be busy training today...” I plop on my bed, and stare at my ceiling.

“Even at how amazing he is…” I hold my right hand to the air reaching out “always out of my reach…”

When I hear his voice over my ear piece.

Lon’qu: “Hey… you there?”

My heart flutters. And, I sit up straight.

Lon’qu: “Come, train.”

“For training huh… but he invited me so…”

I’m on my two feet and out my door, I meet him and Gregor at the training grounds.

Training consisted of Gregor showing Lon’qu   the things he learned and Lon’qu practicing the same moves. I try to practice the same swings with my axe and not get in their way, but it’s not the same because they have both have swords. But nonetheless, the same movement can be applied for different weapons.

(I’m spent I’m at my limit…)

Gregor: “Oy! Gregor sees you sweating rivers- time to rest, no more training!”

I blushed being called out.

Lon’qu: “He’s right. Rest.”

I looked around for my bag… but then realized I left without grabbing my canteen.

Before I can say anything, Lon’qu hands me his canteen.

Lon’qu: “You… need to stay hydrated.”

Laura: “But!! This is yours…!” I’m flustered.

Lon’qu: “I-It’s not a big deal. Drink it.” He practically shoves it in my hand.

Lon’qu: “I’m not leaving until you drink it.”

My throat is consciously tighter and thirsty.

(I am parched…) I look at his canteen in my hands… (Well… I’m not going to say no to water.) I drink it.

Laura: “Thank you…”

Lon’qu: “Good.” Then, he walks back to Gregor to train some more.

(W-what was that about…? But more importantly how did he know I was looking for water…?)

I sit on the ground and watch Lon’qu train, my eyes on his every movement and trying to figure out what just transpired.
