Laura’s Journal 3- Gregor

I arrive in his tent again. “Today is… Gregor!”

Lon’qu: “Understood.”

“Remember! Enjoy this!!” I give him two thumbs up and pat him on the back for good measure.

Lon’qu: “What’s that for..?”

Laura: “Just cause. Can’t I…?”

Lon’qu: “…Hmph.”

Laura: “Alright, no more from me, off I go!”

I head back to my tent and sit on my bed. “Nothing else to do but listen. Sometimes I wish I can be there…”

I laughed. “Describes him alright.”

My ears perk up.

(How old are Basilio and Gregor?!)

“Huh… that’s news to me.”

“Is he trying to prove something…?”

Imagining that Lon’qu is actually doing what Gregor said makes me laugh.

(This is a first for him.) I ponder…

“Why is he like this.” I can’t help but laugh some more. He seems so different from how he was with Robin or Vaike.

“Gotta pay up!”

“No… because there’s something he wants.”

“Ah… he actually paid him.”

(So adamant. He must really want this match.)

“Lon’qu!!” (I’m seeing such a new side to him…) “But then again, maybe he’s been this way? Just not to me…?”

The way that he ignored Gregor’s comment.

“He doesn’t waste time does he.”

“That fast?!!”

“I can’t believe he lost…”

“Basilio is faster than Lon’qu?! What??”

“Just how much experience does Gregor have…?”

“Not a fool. Not at all…”

“Gregor must really be that much older.” I didn’t think much about it before. (But, it would make sense, why Lon’qu is acting this way.)

“He always wants to get better at swordsmanship and to learn from a veteran is highly advantageous.”

“Oh no.”

“Guess he’ll be busy training today...” I plop on my bed, and stare at my ceiling.

“Even at how amazing he is…” I hold my right hand to the air reaching out “always out of my reach…”

When I hear his voice over my ear piece.

Lon’qu: “Hey… you there?”

My heart flutters. And, I sit up straight.

Lon’qu: “Come, train.”

“For training huh… but he invited me so…”

I’m on my two feet and out my door, I meet him and Gregor at the training grounds.

Training consisted of Gregor showing Lon’qu   the things he learned and Lon’qu practicing the same moves. I try to practice the same swings with my axe and not get in their way, but it’s not the same because they have both have swords. But nonetheless, the same movement can be applied for different weapons.

(I’m spent I’m at my limit…)

Gregor: “Oy! Gregor sees you sweating rivers- time to rest, no more training!”

I blushed being called out.

Lon’qu: “He’s right. Rest.”

I looked around for my bag… but then realized I left without grabbing my canteen.

Before I can say anything, Lon’qu hands me his canteen.

Lon’qu: “You… need to stay hydrated.”

Laura: “But!! This is yours…!” I’m flustered.

Lon’qu: “I-It’s not a big deal. Drink it.” He practically shoves it in my hand.

Lon’qu: “I’m not leaving until you drink it.”

My throat is consciously tighter and thirsty.

(I am parched…) I look at his canteen in my hands… (Well… I’m not going to say no to water.) I drink it.

Laura: “Thank you…”

Lon’qu: “Good.” Then, he walks back to Gregor to train some more.

(W-what was that about…? But more importantly how did he know I was looking for water…?)

I sit on the ground and watch Lon’qu train, my eyes on his every movement and trying to figure out what just transpired.

Asking Lon’qu’s Birthday

Mini dialogues about me asking for his birthday 🥹🥺💕

Before C Support

Laura: “So… when is your birthday?”

Lon’qu: “M-my birthday? Hmph. It’s n-none of your business!”

Laura: “I’m going to keep asking until you tell me your birthday Lon’qu.”

Lon’qu: "My birthday a-again? It’s not… important. F-Focus on the battle, not trivial matters."

I keep asking for the next couple of days.

Laura: “When is your birthday?”

Lon’qu: "Hmph. You're stubborn. Keep asking, and you'll get the same answer.

N-Nothing. My past is my own. Leave me be!"

At C Support

Laura: “Will you finally tell me your birthday?”

Lon’qu: "You're still on about my birthday…?

Hmph. It's just another day. A-Ask something useful next time."

Laura: “I’m going to ask the Shepherds about your birthday, our tactician would know.”

(Though, I want to hear it from him directly…”)

Lon’qu: “Go ask the others, then. L-Leave me out of it!”

At B Support

Laura: “You’re killing me here! Will today be the day I will know your birthday??”

Lon’qu: He sighs. “You’re not dying.”

“You’re relentless about this birthday nonsense… I don't care for it. Never have. Where I come from, surviving was more important than the day I was born.”

Laura: “The day you are born is important… I want to celebrate it.”

He sighs. “Missing it changes nothing. I don't celebrate it, never have. You're... too stubborn, you know that?”

At B+ Support

Laura: “Please tell me your birthday.”

Lon’qu: “You again with my birthday? I've told you, it's not something I bother with.”

“…Maybe I'll tell you when I'm ready."

At A Support

I probably asked like 365 times by now.

Laura: “Soooo… won’t you tell me now when your birthday is Lon’qu?!?”

Lon’qu: *a deep sigh* “You never let this go, do you…?”

“Fine, since you're so set on it... it's October 10. Don't make a big deal out of it.”

The realization that I had missed his birthday the first year I met him.

Laura: “October 10 huh…? That means I missed your birthday…” I’m sulking…

Lon’qu: “It's just a day, gone and done.”

Laura: “But, still! That’s a day we could have celebrated!!”

He glances at me and softly sighs. “Since you're so set on birthdays, when's… yours?”

Laura: “Mine…?” (He wants to know my birthday?!?)

He looks at me expecting an answer.

Laura: “It’s… on Christmas… December 25.”

He’s taken aback.

Lon’qu: "Christmas… of all days?“ He actually chuckles. “Suits you.” Then he clears his throat. “Don't expect much, I don’t do celebrations. But... I'll keep yours in mind.”
